Inaugural of 'Infinite Woman' Tea Party in Hollywood, CA
I was absolutely delighted to be invited to attend the Inaugural of Infinite Women Tea Party on a perfectly warm Saturday afternoon in Hollywood, CA. I have been seeing a change in women empowering other women in the past few years and especially through the healing community. I loved the tagline on the invitation:
"Awakening the Power within all Women to Create Flourish & Prosper"
Getting ready for the Tea Party... |
I was ruffling through my wardrobe, and found a perfect demure dress for the occasion, inspired by Mad Men. Still looking for shoes and some gloves to complete this attire!
I arrived at the event and was greeted by warm and friendly woman, beautiful white tables covered by white linens and delights including gift bags for everyone to take home. What a treat!!
CEO & Executive of Endless Road Entertainment Mikey Koffman |
The real treat though was the inspiring women opened up to share their stories of how they overcame obstacles to the road to success. I was truly moved by each and everyone of these dynamic women, including Mikey Koffman, CEO and Executive of Endless Road Entertainment who shared her remarkable story. She ended with a great saying by Jesse Jackson:
“Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up. ”
Radio & TV personality Kerri Kasem speaks Personal stories shared by Kerri Kasem was most moving and was received with a standing ovation. |
Nathanaelle Couture latest Collection |
Designer Nathanaelle Couture showcased her latest fall collection. Every dress was classic and timeless. Nathanelle Couture recently won the Contemporary Women's Fashion Awards over Bebe, Michael Kors, DKNY, Marc Jabobs, Juicy Couture, Bettie Page at the LA Fashion Awards.
I met so many lovely women at this event, and felt the power of women coming together to support each other. Women can be so healing when they work together, and realize they are more alike than different. I look forward to the next tea party! Dante Basco and Radhaa Nilia at the 3rd Annual Filipinos in Entertainment & Media. #CreatingVisibility
The entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood, has been known to exclude other cultures and severely lack diversity. One example would be Scarlett Johansson, accused of cultural appropriation, having played an Asian character in the movie Ghost in the Shell. In this case, the studios completely eradicated the Asian character and made her white. That role was meant for an Asian Actress, and perhaps that's why it flopped so badly.
Sadly, incredible and diverse talent is looked over in the industry, especially in the Filipino community. I personally know dozens of incredible Filipino Actors and Actresses, but they have often shared their frustrations at being marginalized and the invisible Asians in Hollywood.
"Creating Visibility & Establishing Individuality" at the 3rd Annual Filipinos in Entertainment & Media.
It is a fact that Filipinos been one of the most excluded in the entertainment industry. So, I am so grateful to attend and support Filipinos in Entertainment & Media to get the word out about becoming more inclusive of ALL Asian races and the little-supported Filipino community, which is bursting with incredible talent. It's time for Filipinos' faces, voices, and talent to SHINE! Teaming up with Dante Basco for this revolutionary event. Let's bring more light to this important issue we need to discuss, which is, Inclusivity.
